This Privacy Policy explains how SnapStudy ("we," "our," or "the App") collects, uses, and protects your information when you use our mobile application. SnapStudy is a photo-to-text conversion app that uses AI vision models to extract text from images.

By using SnapStudy, you agree to the collection and use of information in accordance with this policy. If you do not agree with our policies and practices, please do not use the App.

2. Information We Collect

2.1 Information Stored Locally on Your Device

The following data is stored exclusively on your device using local SQLite database storage:

• Photos: Images you capture or import from your gallery
• Extracted Text: Text converted from your photos using AI
• Organization Data: Tags, categories, and notes you add to organize your content
• App Settings: Your preferences including Wi-Fi only mode and AI provider selection
• Offline Queue: Photos waiting to be processed when internet becomes available

Important: This data never leaves your device unless you explicitly use the share functionality or enable optional cloud backup.

2.2 Information Sent to Third-Party AI Services

When you request text extraction from a photo, we send the image to one of the following AI services:

• Primary: Google Gemini Vision API
• Fallback Options: OpenAI ChatGPT Vision API or Anthropic Claude Vision API

These services process your image to extract text. We do not store your images on our servers, and the AI providers process images according to their own privacy policies:

2.3 Subscription and Purchase Information

SnapStudy uses RevenueCat for subscription management. RevenueCat collects:

• Anonymous App User ID: A unique identifier automatically generated for your app installation
• Purchase History: Information about your subscription tied to your Apple ID (iOS) or Google Play account (Android)
• Device Information: Basic device type and OS version for subscription validation

No account creation required: RevenueCat automatically ties your subscription to your Apple ID or Google Play account. You never need to provide an email address or create a password. Subscriptions automatically restore when you reinstall the app or switch devices using the same store account.

2.4 Information We Do NOT Collect

3. How We Use Your Information

3.1 Local Data Usage

Data stored locally on your device is used to:

• Display your extracted text and photos within the app
• Enable search, filtering, and organization of your content
• Provide offline functionality for photo capture
• Remember your app settings and preferences

3.2 AI Processing Usage

Photos sent to AI services are used solely to:

• Extract text content from your images
• Return the extracted text to you within the app

We do not use your photos for training AI models, advertising, or any other purpose beyond text extraction.

3.3 Subscription Data Usage

Subscription information is used to:

• Validate your premium subscription status
• Restore purchases across devices
• Provide access to premium features

4. Data Sharing and Disclosure

4.1 Third-Party Service Providers

• Preventing fraud or security issues

5. Data Storage and Security

5.1 Local Storage

All your photos and extracted text are stored locally on your device using:

• SQLite Database: Industry-standard local database encrypted by iOS/Android system-level security
• Device Security: Protected by your device's passcode, biometric lock, or encryption

5.2 Data Transmission Security

When sending photos to AI services:

• All communications use HTTPS encryption (TLS/SSL)
• Images are transmitted securely over encrypted connections
• No intermediate storage on our servers

5.3 Optional Cloud Backup

If you choose to enable optional cloud backup:

• iOS: Data backed up to your personal iCloud account (governed by Apple's privacy policy)
• Android: Data backed up to your Google Drive account (governed by Google's privacy policy)

Cloud backup is disabled by default and requires your explicit consent.

6. Your Privacy Controls

6.1 Wi-Fi Only Mode

You can enable Wi-Fi only mode to ensure photos are only sent to AI services when connected to Wi-Fi, preventing mobile data usage and giving you more control over when processing occurs.

6.2 Offline Queue Management

Photos captured offline are queued locally. You can:

• Review queued photos before processing
• Delete photos from the queue without processing them
• Process the queue manually when connected to internet

6.3 AI Provider Selection

You can choose which AI service to use for text extraction, giving you control over which third party processes your images.

6.4 Data Deletion

You have complete control over your data:

• Delete individual photos and extracted text at any time
• Clear all app data through your device settings
• Uninstall the app to remove all local data

Note: Deleting data from your device does not retroactively delete data that was previously processed by AI services.

7. Children's Privacy

SnapStudy is not directed to children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information, please contact us, and we will take steps to delete such information.

8. International Data Transfers

SnapStudy is developed in Dominica and available worldwide. When you use AI services, your photos may be processed on servers located in different countries:

• Google Gemini: Servers may be located in various Google data centers globally
• OpenAI: Primarily United States-based servers
• Anthropic: Primarily United States-based servers

By using the app, you consent to this international data processing for the purpose of text extraction.

9. California Privacy Rights (CCPA)

If you are a California resident, you have the right to:

• Know: What personal information we collect (see Section 2)
• Delete: Request deletion of your personal information (delete data in-app or uninstall)
• Opt-Out: Since we don't sell personal data, no opt-out is necessary
• Non-Discrimination: We will not discriminate against you for exercising your privacy rights

10. European Privacy Rights (GDPR)

If you are in the European Economic Area (EEA), you have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data (data stored locally on your device)
• Rectification: Correct inaccurate data (edit within the app)
• Erasure: Request deletion of your data (delete in-app or uninstall)
• Data Portability: Export your data (use share/export features)
• Object: Object to data processing (don't use features that send data to AI services)

Legal Basis for Processing: We process your data based on:

• Your consent when you use AI features
• Contract performance for subscription services
• Legitimate interests in providing app functionality

11. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy in the app
• Updating the "Last Updated" date at the top of this policy
• Providing an in-app notification for material changes

Your continued use of the app after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
